CSS Neuse Museum & Kinston Tour

On January 24th 2015, Steve Spaziante and June Dowd took the Outdoor Adventure to Kinston to tour the CSS Neuse Museum and other close by Kinston sights.

The first stop was the CSS Neuse Museum where the group took a guided tour by Holly Brown of the Ironclad ship built during the Civil War. The ship eventually went aground and remained in its place until 1956. Since then Kinston groups have repaired and eventually moved her to an indoor facility.

Lunch was provided by Queen Street Deli & Bakery. Manager Adam Atkinson provided a selection of sandwiches and side dishes. Adam agreed to operate the deli on a Saturday which is usually not open on a weekend.

Outdoor Adventure group went to Mother Earth Brewery for another guided tour of the day. Not only did everyone see the brewery operation, but also some tasted the beers offered in the tasting room.
