Club President's Message
Dear Members,
As I assume duties as your President for the 21-22 FY, I would first like to recognize and say ‘well done’ to Dave Pfluge for his service as our president during the past year. Thanks, Dave to you and to your wife, Annie, who served as Treasurer. We wish you and your family continued good health and happiness in the coming years.
Second, I want to welcome our board members for the coming year who I will introduce to you at our upcoming members' meeting.
Finally, and speaking of our upcoming meeting, we will hold our first meeting on Wednesday, 8 September starting at 7:30pm in the Harrison Center located at 311 Middle Street in New Bern. Our guest speaker will be Colonel Mike Huber, USMC, Commanding Officer, Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point in Havelock. I hope you will plan to join us and learn about one of the major air stations on the east coast of the U.S. and one that has a significant impact on our local economy.
The New Bern Newcomers Club is your club, and we are here to welcome you and ease your transition as you settle in to this beautiful, historic, friendly area. We encourage you to attend our monthly meetings and participate in activities that interest you; you won’t be disappointed with the results!
We will adhere to any COVID protocols in place and ask you to do so as well. Thanks for your cooperation in advance. Look forward to seeing you on the 8th!!!

Activity Director Update
Dear Members:
Welcome to the new season of your club; New Bern Newcomers Club, and the many activities we have to offer to help you meet new friends and become acquainted with this beautiful, historic, and friendly city. After a difficult and challenging 20-21 season, we are looking forward to getting all our activities rejuvenated and available to meet your demands for participation. We are also looking for volunteers to lead the following activities: Bunco, Dining Out, Golf, and Shuffleboard. Please contact me if you would like to get more information or would like to lead one of these groups. Additionally, if you would like to start a new activity and are willing to take the lead in doing so, please contact me as well. Please go to the activities page of our website, http://www.newbernnewcomers.org , to find information about each activity and to sign up, as well as a calendar for scheduled events.
I do hope each of you will plan to attend our monthly meetings starting with our first meeting on Wednesday, 8 September at the Harrison Center in downtown New Bern. The meeting will start at 7:30pm and our guest speaker will be Colonel Mike Huber, USMC, Commanding Officer, Marine Corps Air Station, Cherry Point in Havelock. We will also have our activity leaders present for you to meet and to assist with registration. Attending our monthly meetings is also a great way to meet new friends and learn more about what New Bern has to offer.
Finally, I’m still searching for my relief as Activities Director. Anyone who is a member of our club is eligible to assume a Board position, even if it’s your first year. If interested in learning more about what’s involved, please contact me directly; it’s a fun job! Thanks!
