                                               Prior Meetings

The club would like to thank Erik Heden, Warning Coordination Meteorologist with the National Weather Service, Weather Forecast Office, Newport/Morehead City, for his informative  talk  at our June  meeting, on hurricanes and hurricane preparedness.

Club meetings will start again in September, 2024. Please visit our website for updates and announcements regarding scheduling and location. Thank you.

“Intro to Newcomers 101,” will be held during our Sept. meeting. If you are new to the club and attend our Sept. meeting, please let our greeters know and they can answer any questions you may have. You can also visit our Newcomers 101 Cheat Sheet.

The Newcomers Club of New Bern meeting begins at  7 p.m., May 16th, at the Harrison Center, 311 Middle Street, in historic downtown  New Bern. The club holds monthly meetings on the second Thursday of the month except in July, August and December.

Doors typically open at 6:15 p.m. so members and visitors can have extra time to socialize and visit activity tables before the program commences.

The presentation will begin at 7:00 p.m. The club’s monthly meetings usually last about an hour and a half, wrapping up at about 8:30 p.m.

While street parking in most of downtown New Bern is limited to two hours at a time until 5 p.m. if you arrive in the area after 3 p.m., you can park as long as you like and take advantage of the numerous shops and places to eat conveniently located near the Harrison Center before attending the club meeting.

Monthly club meetings offer a variety of  guest  speakers who present information about our community.

The Newcomers Club of New Bern  is open to all  individuals in their first year living in the New Bern Area.  The Club operates under the premise of a three-year membership. This prevents the Club from becoming "closed" because of size.

Just in the last two years, featured speakers have included : the CEO of our local hospital, the director of our local airport,  New Bern's police and fire chiefs, a historian from Tryon Palace, the executive director of the airport in New Bern, representatives from our local animal rescue and from  other nonprofit organizations who offer volunteer opportunities.

Meetings  also include time to get acquainted with fellow newcomers and to learn about the many social activity groups the club has to offer.

(monthly club meetings are not held in July and in August)
