We have welcomed Spring to New Bern, North Carolina and rolled the clock forward. The weather is getting warmer and our next meeting will be April 14 at 7:00 PM at the Gazebo, weather permitting, as well as on Zoom. The state of North Carolina has increased the capacity for outside meetings, so we will be able to have all attend in person. Our guest speaker will be Tammy Rodriquez, a New Bern Visitor Center Representative.
We will be using our new sound system for this meeting; I want to thank Jules and Tony Tauber for allowing us to borrow their unit for the meetings at the gazebo.
We have begun the work on creating a new more modern, secure, and easier to use website for the membership. We will give a status update at the meeting.
Our activity director, Randy Bogle will provide the latest updates on the activities. Cindy Harrington and Joanne Bogle will provide the latest on the upcoming social events.
We will also continue to provide updates on what is happening in New Bern for April. The big event I hope everyone plans to visit is The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall. It will be open to the public April 8 – 11, 2021 in Lawson Creek Park.
In order for the Newcomers to continue operation next year, we need candidates for the Board of Directors- President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Activity Director, Social Director, Membership Director and Communications Director. A description of the duties can be found at the following link:
I would like to encourage all our members to make an effort to attend our 14 Apr Club Meeting to have an opportunity to meet the Club’s Activity Leaders in person. This will be part of our effort to get our activities jump started for the rest of 2021 as well as to see everyone’s smiling faces, even if they are behind masks!
We are in the process of updating the info posted on the activities page of our website, so please take a look and contact the activity leaders for any questions you might have. In that vein, we are looking for a replacement for George Caflin who heads up our golf activity; he has filled this leader position for two years and has done a magnificent job! If you are interested in relieving George, please give me a shout and you can also speak with George to get answers to any questions you might have with responsibilities of this position. Additionally, LeAnne Welder has moved and we are looking for a leader for Evening Bunco. Anyone interested please give me a call.

Highlights from Last Month Bike Group – Joint Newcomer and Alumni Activity
March 15, 2021: We had a chilly but nice bike ride today thru FairField Harbour with a “Snack Stop”, half way, at the Burtons. The riders were Peter Roberts, Sara & David Duda, Dave Debus, Cindy Harrington, and Steve Burton. Hostesses for our snack stop were Corrine Burton and Laura Debus.
