PARKING
Attached above is a map of the available parking areas in downtown New Bern. To ensure that those of us with “older” bones can find parking as close to the Harrison Center as possible, we are asking those of you who are able and don’t mind a short walk before the meeting, to use one of the farther out lots.

MARCH ACTIVITIES round up, brought to you by your Activities Director, Andy Britton
Day Trips (Joint Newcomers/AGN):
Local Activity--We'll "give back" to our lovely New Bern community by doing our own "Operation Clean Sweep" litter pick-up on Saturday, 8 March from 10:00AM - 12:00PM. Afterwards, anyone interested can join in an impromptu post lunch somewhere downtown. We will have buckets, grabbers, gloves, garbage bags, and orange vests on hand for all, courtesy of the Clean Sweep kits at the New Bern library. We are still working on determining what neighborhood/streets to work on (we don't want to be walking along highways/really busy roads) but will let you know soonest--if you have any candidate areas, let us know! Please RSVP your interest to participate to
andybritton@verizon.net by 5 March so we know how many kits to get.
Away Activity--Tour and tastings at Walton’s Distillery (261 Ben Williams Rd, Jacksonville, NC) on Friday, 21 March. Walton's is "a craft distillery specializing in whiskey and moonshine". We will first meet for an optional lunch at the Kettle Diner (300 Marine Blvd, Jacksonville, NC 28540) at 12:00PM and then head to Walton's afterward. Tours/tastings are approximately every 30 minutes so for those wishing to forgo lunch and meet at the distillery, estimate an @2:00PM tour start time. This event is capped at 15 people. Please RSVP your interest to participate in the tour and/or lunch to
andybritton@verizon.net by 16 March.

Meet at the parking lot near the restrooms. There are hiking trails marked in red at the parking lot near the restrooms and by the campgrounds where the RV’s are parked. We will meet afterwards for an optional lunch get at Carolina Grill (998 US Highway 70 E, New Bern) at 12:30PM. Please RSVP to Joe Girandola at
nbnewcomerhiking@gmail.com by Wednesday March 19, 2025 if you plan on participating in the lunch so he can provide the restaurant a head count.
