Activity - Newcomer/Alumni
Carol Betz (Newcomer)
The Book Club meets monthly at a member's home for conversation about the book of the month. A moderator will begin and lead the discussion with a few comments and questions and the host provides light refreshments.
We meet on the second Wednesday of each month from 1 to 3pm in different members homes to discuss a wide genre of books. The book list is complied from suggestions and majority vote by the club members. The books range from beach reads to classics and more.
And one of the best parts is that the club gets us to read titles we might not have otherwise chosen.
We are a group of diverse people bringing to the table different morals, values, and backgrounds, thus making for fun and thought-provoking discussions. The meeting lasts for approx 1 1/2 hours with additional time for socializing.
Interested members will be emailed details of a scheduled activity several weeks in advance. Simply respond to the email if you will be attending. If your plans change after indicating you will attend, please email the activity leader to inform them you will not attend. To be added to the group's email list, sign up at a general meeting or email the group leader.
Fourteen members of the Book Club had a wonderful time at Linda Lord's home in a recent meeting. Not only was the food delicious but we each shared what our favorite book was and why and then swapped books with each other.
The book club has 22 members at this time. We meet the 2nd Wednesday of every month at Red Sail Pavilion in Fairfield Harbor, from 1-3 pm. We each bring our own chair, and dress for the weather!
We have a volunteer moderator each month to lead the discussion.
A member of the book club brings a dessert to share with everyone.
We have the list of books chosen for the year (through October 2022).
A monthly email reminder goes out to everyone the Sunday before the meeting. A follow-up email goes out just after the meeting to sum things up (& inform those who could not attend).
