Join a retired photojournalist and club member Rob  for a monthly  gathering of newcomers who love photography for a photo walk at a variety of locations in and around the City of New Bern. APRIL 2024-Photo Walk, 3:00 p.m, Tuesday, April 23- Gardens in New Bern

Flower Photography : Gardens Around , Tryon Palace, New Bern

New Bern is graced by some of the most photogenic gardens in the area, many located on the historic grounds outside the gates of Tryon Palace. 

We will meet at the corner of George and Pollock streets, 610 Pollock Street, in front of the Waystation ticket center. 

All Newcomers Club members (and Alumni) members are invited. This group is open to all skills levels and cameras, including D-SLRs and phone cameras!

The activity is lead by club member Rob Paine, a retired pro photographer.  If you plan on going, please RSVP to newbernphotowalk@gmail.com no later than Sunday, April 21. . If the event is postponed, I will email everyone who has RSVP’d. Thank you!

Please note : The gardens we will be photographing are outside the palace gates and do not require paid admission. 

May 2024 Photo Walk : Wilson NC- exact date coming soon

Wilson has a little bit of everything :

• an innovate photography museum that not only has an indoor gallery but includes several buildings downtown;

• an incredible rose garden which is probably one of the biggest and best in North Carolina and

• the Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park, a one of a kind outside exhibit that might be a one of a kind experience.

Past Photo Walks in 2023-24 Newcomers Year

March 2024- Waterfront of Morehead City, NC

The March Photo Walk was held March 22 on the waterfront in Morehead City. We walked the waterfront taking photos of statues, boats and buildings near where the Big Rock is held every year,

February 2024 -Perspective

What's Your Perspective, in downtown New Bern,  Thursday, Feb. 22, 2024.

January 2024- wildlife and nature at Martin Marietta park

We have put together a slide show of photos taken by the 15 talented Newcomers Club members who took part in our January photo walk at Martin Marietta Park in New Bern, We hope you enjoy it and check back on this page in February for  details on our February walk. Thanks to everyone who has taken part in this activity. This walk centered on the abundance of birds and other nature readily available at this wonderful park in NEW BERN, NC.

Tuesday,  Oct 10, Lawson Creek Park, New Bern Where can  you photograph a Navy Blue Angel jet, great views of downtown, boats on the river and wildlife all in the same location?

Lawson Creek Park! 140-acre Lawson Creek Park, conveniently located off Route 70 in New Bern, offers a variety of photo opportunities all within easy  walking distance of parking.   

About a dozen photographers took part in this walk and the video above features some of their photos.

SEPTEMBER 2023 Sunset Stroll

Second Annual Photo Walk Sunset Stroll,September 12, 2023

We held our Second Annual Photo Walk Sunset Stroll Kick Off on the River Walk in New Bern,Tuesday, Sept.12th. You can watch a slide show from that walk at the bottom of this page.

We met on  the New Bern River Walk behind the Double Tree Hotel. The walk  wrapped up on the  outdoor garden and viewing place  behind the New Bern History Center, roughly a mile round trip.
