January 2024 Activities Director Update

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season. And while the hustle and bustle of the holidays may have subsided, there are still lots of Newcomers Club activities to keep you busy:

  • Did you make a resolution to be more active this year? We have regularly scheduled opportunities for bocce, cycling, golf, pickleball, tennis, and a new hiking group that’s just getting started. And our Outdoor Adventures group is planning a trip to the NC Estuarium in Washington, NC on January 27.
  • Want to learn a new skill? We’ve got you covered with Photo Walks, Creative Writers, and a Crafting group, whose upcoming activities include making button cards and cookie decorating. We’re also working to start a drawing/sketching group.
  • Or maybe you just want to get out more and make new friends? We have groups who get together for Boating, Book Club, Bridge, Chess, Day Trips, Dining Out, Mah Jongg, Mexican Dominoes, RVing, Singles, Table Games, Wine Tastings, and Wine Socials. And after an inspiring day supporting Wreaths Across America, plans are underway for our next service activity in February (details should be available at the general meeting on January 11).

More information about all of our activities is available on the Newcomers Website.

Finally, it’s not too late to sign up for the extended day trip to beautiful Asheville, NC and the “must see” Biltmore Estate in April. The deadline for deposits has been extended to mid-January. For additional information see the Asheville Trip flyer on the web or email  andybritton@verizon.net.

Start your New Year off right by trying something new or re-visiting an old favorite. Find something that interests you and sign up!
