The board of directors of the Newcomers Club of New Bern would like to thank all who attended our 2023 Open House at the New Bern – Craven County library, August 22.  We enjoyed seeing everyone and it was great to meet so many new residents who were in attendance.  Special thanks to the library  and to our activity directors that helped make the  event successful and to all our local media and Facebook friends who helped spread the word on this annual event. About 100 people attended, 60 of which were first timers at a Newcomers event. We are so glad you chose to spend time with us!  Thank you and welcome to New Bern.

Newcomers Club of New Bern monthly meeting are held at the Harrison Center, 311 Middle Street in Downtown New Bern.

If you could not make it to our event Aug. 22nd,  no worries. We hope you will join us at 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 14, 2023, for our first monthly club meeting of the fall at the Harrison Center in New Bern. The meeting is open to all current members as well as to those new to New Bern who are interested in learning more about the club and joining.  The doors open at about 6:30 p.m., so get there early to socialize and learn about our offerings.

The Newcomers Club of New Bern has welcomed thousands of new residents to the area since 1987. The nonprofit club, through its monthly meetings and over 20 activity groups, provides an easy and fun way to make new friends and learn more about this great community we call home.

Memberships only cost $15 a year. 

If you are new to New Bern and surrounds and want to learn more about the club and meet some of our activity leaders and current members, we hope you will join us for this free open house, Tuesday, Aug. 22nd, from 10 a.m. to noon.

When We Meet, What We Do

The club meets on the second Thursday of the month except in July, August and December. at 7 p.m., at the Harrison Center, 311 Middle Street, in New Bern. Click here for our full events calendar.The club's objective is to help newcomers transition into their new community. As a Club member, you will have opportunities to meet other newcomers and to learn about local resources and history.

The Club is open to individuals in their first year living in the New Bern area. The Club operates under the premise of a three-year membership. This prevents the Club from becoming "closed" because of size.  Join Online or Renew Membership HERE.

The Club offers many activities to its members including Biking, Day Trips, Golf, Crafting, a Book Club, a Writers' Club, Tennis, and Wine Socials.

Monthly Club meetings offer a variety of  guest  speakers who present information about our community. Just in the last two years, featured speakers have included : the CEO of our local hospital, New Bern's police and fire chiefs, a historian from Tryon Palace, the executive director of the airport in New Bern, representatives from our local animal rescue and from  other nonprofit organizations.  Meetings  also include time to get acquainted with fellow newcomers and to learn about the many social activity groups the club has to offer.

Please note : If you do not qualify to join the Newcomers club, you are welcome and encouraged to join our affiliate Alumni group that offers many of the same events and activities as the Newcomers club does.
