Club President’s Message
Happy Spring Newcomers!
We are excited to welcome Spring as we look forward to warmer weather, spring showers, and beautiful colors of new growth. I encourage you to enjoy these faces of Spring in the New Bern area as we are, indeed, blessed to be living in this beautiful, historic, and friendly part of North Carolina.
Our next Members Meeting will be Thursday, April 14, at The Harrison Center starting at 7:00 pm, doors open at 6:30 pm. Our speaker will be Coastal Carolina Regional Airport-EWN Airport Director, Andrew Shorter. Mr. Shorter first came to EWN in 2014 as Deputy Director before his promotion to Airport Director in 2016. Before joining EWN, he held a storied military career highlighted by Chief, Joint Training, Readiness Exercises US European Command, Commanding Officer, Marine Air Group 14 and Director of Operations, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing at MCAS Cherry Point, NC. Coastal Carolina Regional Airport-EWN serves Eastern North Carolina with non-stop flights to Charlotte with worldwide connections through American Airlines. You won’t want to miss this presentation! I look forward to seeing you there.
Our Nominating Committee continues their search for volunteers to serve on our Board of Directors. We must fill all members of the Board except for Communications Director. Newcomers Club of New Bern By-Laws and Board Responsibilities may be found on our website, https://newbernnewcomers.org , and contact info for all current board members can be found there as well. Please give serious consideration to filling one of these positions. All current board members would be happy to speak with you about their respective jobs. We look forward to having a full slate of volunteers by the end of April. Please get involved!
Our Newcomers Spring Social will be held Friday, 20 May, at the Taberna Country Club from 6:00 pm to 9:30 pm. Travel to the islands and join us for a Cocktail Party Luau! Please see the Special Announcements area of the website for flyer and reservation form for your convenience. This will be a fun and lively event you won’t want to miss. I’ll certainly be in my island attire!
