Club President's Message

Happy Holidays Newcomers!

I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving and were able to spend time with family and friends to celebrate our good fortune to live in this great country!  As Newcomers we will not have a Members Meeting this month, but will celebrate the season with our annual Holiday Party which will include, not only our members but members of the Alumni Group as well.  I've attached the flyer and registration form for this event which will be held 11 December at the Carolina Colours Pavilion starting at 6:00pm.  If you haven't signed up yet, I encourage you to do so soon as the cutoff date is 4 December.  Also, please note this is a Toys for Tots event.  The U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is the Marine Corps' premier community action program.  To many Americans, Christmas isn't complete without the image of uniformed Marines c and distributing toys to less fortunate children of their communities.  Over the past 18 years, Marines have distributed an average of 18,600,000 toys annually, and brought the joy of Christmas to an average of nearly 7.3 million less fortunate children each year.  The toys collected at our event will be distributed to children in the New Bern area.  Please bring an unwrapped toy to this event and be a part of putting a little joy in a child's life.  We will have a Marine Corps representative present to accept your donation and thank our members for their support of this most worthwhile program.

Our next Members Meeting will be Thursday, 13 January, 2022 at the Harrison Center starting at 7:00 pm (doors open at 6:30 pm).  We are working on a speaker, and looking forward to kicking off the new year in fine fashion!  Please plan to attend.  We are most grateful to Sheriff Chip Hughes for being our speaker in November and providing insight into the challenges he and his staff must address to keep Craven County safe on a daily basis.  He answered many questions from our members, both during his presentation and after our meeting adjourned.  We salute Sheriff Hughes and all law enforcement personnel, not only in Craven County but around our great country!

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Happy Holidays to all!  Please be safe and I look forward to seeing you at our Holiday Party!
