President’s Update

Since July 1, 2023, our board members have been working hard to master the details of their new positions serving the club. Proof of their success was our recent “Open House” held Aug. 22, 2023, at the New Bern-Craven County Library Auditorium.

About 100 people took part in the Newcomers of New Bern’s event Aug. 22.

Welcoming around 60 new residents of New Bern, we introduced the club, the club’s board, the membership and the activities.  “Thanks” to all for their dedication and hard work on behalf of the club and “the new friends we haven’t yet met.”

As September opens, we are getting ready for our first general membership meeting planned for Thursday, Sept.14, 2023.

We continue meet at the Harrison Center, 311 Middle Street, New Bern. Doors open at 6:30 PM for a bit of social time before the formal meeting begins at 7:00 PM.

Cathy Lane, our club vice-president, has focused on securing guest speakers, the first of whom will be Tammy Rodriguez from the New Bern Visitor’s Center.  An excellent community resource, the New Bern Visitor’s Center is a “must stop” for those new to town. It offers ample literature and guides helpful for unlocking the treats and treasures of New Bern. Join us as we learn more from Tammy!

Friendly reminder – July 1 was the due date for yearly membership dues of $15 per person.  If this slipped through the cracks in the midst of summer fun, you may choose to renew on-line by clicking here  or click here to download an application for printing and mailing. You can also pay your dues in person at our September 14th meeting!

Your timely renewal preserves your participation in all club and activity group events.  Thank you.

Bill Brettschneider, president, Newcomers Club of New Bern
